R Modules Platform

v 1.0.0 BETA

An R-module is (statistical) software that:

  • is hosted on servers of the Wessa.net network (at no charge)
  • made freely available to the internet community (authors keep the copyright but the use of the software is free)
  • is ready-to-use for everyone (users do not need to understand the underlying R code)
  • is easily accessible without the need to download or install anything on the client machine

If you register with Wessa.net as author of R-modules you will be able to submit:

  • R code that performs statistical computations
  • R databases that contain functions, and data series
  • Meta information about the R-module that allows us to compile and publish it
  • Accompanying texts (in various formats) that support or explain the R-module

Wessa.net makes sure that:

  • every R-module submission is reviewed
  • all R-modules are available through a series of dedicated servers
  • system-related updates are performed without intervention from authors
  • updates in the R-code are managed with a minimum of effort to the author
  • old versions are archived (and remain available)
  • there is adequate funding through advertising, publishing, sponsoring, and partnerships

You can think of R-modules in Wessa.net as a managed series of interfaces between the developer of statistical algorithms and the end-user. The Wessa.net website functions as a distribution channel that is targeted at the entire internet community.

The bottom line is that you have plenty of incentives to register with Wessa.net and create new R-modules:

  • your module will be highly visible to our visitors
  • search engines are guaranteed to index your module, and associate it with appropriate keywords
  • the impact of your research may increase (we already have citations in top science journals)
  • your software is available for the purpose of education and research
  • you can create modules that generate tables and figures of your articles making them reproducible for other scientists
  • important changes in internet technology only require an adaptation of the interfaces - the R-code does not change
  • even if R is someday replaced by something else the existing R-modules can still be used

If you are convinced or if you just want to give it a try, proceed to the next step.

If you have questions you may submit them in the feedback form.

If you are not interested you may find what you are looking for in Google.
