Reproducible Computing package

Introduction

The RC package allows the user to:

• submit code snippets to the online repository at FreeStatistics.org
• allow users to reproduce your computation through the internet (even if R is not installed on the client machine)
• retrieve the meta information about an archived computation
• reproduce a computation within the R console (on the local machine)
• reuse the code, data, and parameters of a computation
• query the computational repository for research purposes

• 2011-06-24: All servers were migrated to new facilities. All R Servers are now running on Ubuntu because this allows us to synchronize updates.
• 2011-03-21: We are updating this webpage.
• 2011-03-20: The second beta version has been submitted to CRAN (this is a release candidate). New updates are planned in the near future.

Quick tutorial

This is a short tutorial that guides you through the most important features of the RC package from the perspective of the author who wishes to publish reproducible research.

• library(RC)

  This loads the package and makes a connection over HTTP with the main server. You can only use the RC package with a live internet connection. If you are offline the RC package will display an error message.
  
  
• Suppose we wish to publish some statistical results in a way that empowers the reader to instantly reproduce or re-use your analysis. For the sake of illustration we assume that the computation of interest is fairly simple and based on a (relatively) small data set. The R code which produces the analysis is shown here:

Downloads

You can download and install the RC package from the official CRAN mirrors. However, we will also make intermediate versions available from this webpage.

• 2011-03-21: RC_1.0.2.21.tar.gz - after the download you can install the package with the shell command R CMD INSTALL RC_1.0.2.21.tar.gz
